Your tears are so sweet, I'm bound to get diagnosed with diabetes.
The characteristics of a scout:
- move fast
- hit without being seen
- escape quickly
- sabotage
- gather intel
- help the squad advance
Now let's see how that stacks up against the scout suit uses in Dust. I think what's confusing you is that there are a few different behaviors, all of which a light/scout suit does very well with fair trade-offs:
- scout sniper - the whole point is not to get seen. If you're stupid enough to camp on the same spot all match in a scout suit, then that's your idiotic mistake. We don't whine when we get OHK countersniped or trounced because a CQC scout snuck up on us with his shotty. Also, since this role doubles as a spotter, you need to be able to get around the map quickly. Sure the logi snipers can do that in a LAV, but then you're just giving away your position. The scout/ligjt is also better than a medium sniper/spotter who has to uber-module the dampening to not light up like a Christmas tree at midnight. equipment slot = nano hive.
- CQC scout - I'm betting that my speed will keep me out of your heavy's high-DPS cone. If you have buddies, I need to get out of town... fast. Let's gamble. If you're whining about the shotgun, give aiming it a try before you call it OP. equipment slot = nano hive, RE, scanner or uplink, depending on your play style and supply depot options.
- flanking/advancing scout - my heavy + logi + 2 assault mates need links in key places to spawn on or flanking cover fire to distract you. The scout can get to those places and defend the link long enough for the logis to make it there and drop the more robust equipment. They can also "stick and move" with covering fire from the flank. Remember, just 1 uplink in the right place can turn a whole match. Also, moving on the flank of my advancing squad takes speed to both get there and get into effective cover when sending rounds at you. equipment slot = uplink or scanner
- Ninja hacker/harasser - code breaker modules + REs and you have an excellent thorn in the enemy's side. equipment slot = RE/prox
Honestly, the close-support/combat scouts I've seen in Dust have more balls and brains that a lot of other frontline players. It doesn't take much to enter a firefight with 700+ eHP in hand. Try doing the same with < 300 eHP and not getting killed to help make a distraction so your squad can advance.
This next part might be difficult to comprehend and you may take it for "magic", so have a seat and get your tin foil hat ready. Setting up a scout suit for any of those jobs requires compromise.
The most obvious is that you can't get any serious tank into it, so you'd better play it smart. They give up significant durability. Anyone who gets into a toe-to-toe fight in a scout suit is a bit foolish. Of course, the godlock is masking that weakness right now.
PG/CPU? Right about what you'd expect for a suit that has to carefully place a bunch of small batteries/computers around a slim suit. Sure you can run any of the light weapons, but you can't always run the top level available b/c of CPU/PG usage.
Now let's get back to your temper tanrum of a question. No one ever said that a logi should only do 1 thing. There are several logi types:
- medic (repper/rezzer/hive)
- armorer (hives)
- mad bomber and point defense (RE/prox)
- squad force protection (scanner/RE/repper/rezzer)
What you need to get through your thick skull is that the logi's diversity is in the equipment, not how much tank & gank you can put on the field. Hell, you only have to read the marketplace descriptions to figure that out.
That's all the logic I'm willing to waste on you right now. Besides, it's more fun to watch you QQ because those tears are pure candy!!! I'm glad you're a CalLogi, though. I can rest easy knowing that you have something to do because you suck at reasoning skills. |
